Cashback Comeback Alert
Wildfire has a new feature available in Chrome, Edge, and both Safari Desktop and Mobile extensions called the Cashback Comeback Alert.
The Cashback Comeback Alert feature helps educate and inform extension users when something they clicked on causes them to lose attribution with an activation they had performed in the extension.
Lost Attribution occurs when an extension user activates the extension at a specific merchant, and then performs another action such as clicking a link on a blog or activating cashback with a competing extension (e.g. Rakuten) at the same merchant.
Affiliate networks have stand-down rules that state extensions must not pop up automatically at a merchant site if the end user came through another affiliate publisher's link. This means the Cashback Comeback Alert behavior only functions when the Wildfire-powered extension was activated BEFORE a competing affiliate link was clicked/activated.
1. Extension user lands on the eligible merchant of Macy's and activates the Eligible Merchant Alert (EMA).
2. Extension User has not made a purchase, but found a deal they are interested in from Slickdeals. When the user clicks this link, it sends them to Macy's but the affiliation was now removed from the Wildfire-powered extension and belongs to Slickdeals.
3. The user is sent to Macy's site and the extension pops up the Cashback Comeback Alert to inform the user that the last action they performed caused them to lose attribution and they need to reactivate to receive cashback.
